San Carlos State of the city address

Good Morning San Mateo County: A morning program that gathers community leaders, business owners, nonprofit executives and staffers at the same table, and enables us to reconnect, engage and learn from each other.

PROGRESS SEMINAR

We were thrilled to bring back the highly anticipated Progress Seminar to the Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country the weekend of April 19 – April 21, 2024.

As always, this event created a vibrant environment for all attendees to connect, gain knowledge, and forge valuable relationships. Kicking off the program, we were honored to host HeartMath, an organization offering a unique approach to conflict resolution and mindfulness. This year’s breakout topics included discussions on San Mateo County’s efforts to reach decarbonization by 2035, making a meaningful impact on the housing crisis, exploring employment challenges and solutions, and an addendum to HeartMath’s opening session. The Luncheon General Session featured a timely and insightful conversation on the burgeoning life sciences sector in our region, highlighting ways our local officials can foster its growth while ensuring community benefits. To conclude the weekend, our Sunday morning Closing Session featured an engaging and candid discussion with esteemed guests Congressman Kevin Mullin and Assemblymember Diane Papan.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our exceptional Progress Seminar Co-Chairs: the astute San Mateo County Executive Officer Mike Callagy; President & CEO of SAMCEDA Rosanne Foust, the esteemed; San Mateo Labor Council Executive Secretary-Treasurer Julie Lind, and Vice President of Student Affairs & Enrollment at San Francisco State University, Dr. Jamillah Moore, whose collective efforts were instrumental in the success of this Seminar. We also express our deepest appreciation to the dedicated planning committee and our generous sponsors, whose unwavering support enables us to consistently provide a pivotal platform for decision-makers and stakeholders to collaborate on key issues and find effective solutions to the challenges confronting San Mateo County.
